When you turn off your computer, you see three options: turn off, suspend or hibernate. But when you select one of these options, you know exactly what each of them do? We discover together in this post which the exact action to take.

Turn Off the computer

When you select this option, you’ll be shutting down any computer activity. It is the computer off, emptied the RAM and nothing is written in HD. No information about your session will be saved.

Use this option whenever you aren’t using the computer for a long period of time.

Suspend the computer

When you select this option, the computer saves the open windows in RAM. When you start the computer again, you’ll continue exactly where you left off, as if he had just pressed a Pause key.

Use this option if you are going away for a short period of time, such as for coffee. If you are using a notebook, this option is still consuming battery power, but in a very small amount. When the battery is almost over, the computer saves your work to use it after charging the battery.

Hibernate the computer

This function is recommended when you go away for a longer period of time because the power consumption is zero. If you use a notebook, you do not have to worry about battery life. In other words, hibernation is an option of the union turn off with the suspension.
